The St. Louis Cardinals and Milwaukee Brewers will meet Monday to begin a three-game series.
The Cardinals have won four of their last six games and recently took two of three from the Chicago Cubs. While the Cardinals offense has struggled a bit to begin the season, their pitching has been on point and they’re 6-0 when scoring at least four runs. Lance Lynn will look to pick up his third win of the season on Monday despite allowing eight runs in 11 innings. Lynn is 3-2 with an ERA of 2.53 in six career starts against the Milwaukee Brewers.
USA TODAY Sports
The Brewers are the hottest team in baseball, winning nine straight games and sweeping three straight teams in the process. Much of this magical run has come down to wonderful pitching, as the Brewers have allowed two or less runs in six of their last nine games. One of those pitchers who has done a decent job is Matt Garza, who is 0-1 with a 2.57 ERA in two starts this season. Garza has 11 strikeouts in 14 innings and has only walked three batters. Garza is 3-1 with an ERA of 3.96 in seven career starts against the Cardinals.
The Cardinals are 1-5 in Lynn's last 6 starts vs. a team with a winning record and 11-4 in Lynn's last 15 starts during game 1 of a series. The Brewers are 10-1 in their last 11 games vs. a right-handed starter and 20-7 in their last 27 overall. The Cardinals are 8-2 in the last 10 meetings in Milwaukee.
Sure, simple knowledge would tell you that it's only a matter of time that the Brewers winning streak comes to an end. But are you willing to bet that the loss comes at home with Garza on the mound? Not me.
Give me the Brewers for the cheap price.
