The Colorado Rockies and the Philadelphia Phillies face off on Friday at Coors Field for game one of their series.
The Colorado Rockies have been battling but like most season they score plenty of runs but give up plenty as well. The Rockies are 4-2 a home this season, 5-5 in their last 10 games, and they are coming off of a win on Thursday. As a team Colorado is hitting .295 with Charles Blackmon hitting .411, Justin Morneau hitting .346, and Troy Tulowitzki is hitting .319. The Rockies pitching staff has an ERA of 4.70 with the starters at 5.21 and the bullpen at 3.83. For game one against the Phillies the Rockies start Tyler Chatwood who had a no decision in his only start this year. Last time out Chatwood allowed six hits and four runs while striking out five over 6.0 innings at San Francisco.

The Philadelphia Phillies look to be a few players short of being a contender but at the very least they are playing hard as we saw in their win over Atlanta on Thursday. The Phillies are 3-3 on the road this season, 4-6 in their last 10 games, and they are three games back in the NL East. As a team the Philies are hitting .262 with Chase Utley hitting .462, Domonic Brown is hitting .288, and ben Revere is hitting .288. The Phillies pitching staff has an ERA of 4.17 with the starters at 3.43 and the bullpen at 5.68. For game one against the Rockies the Phillies start Jonathan Pettibone who didn’t get a decision in his only start. In his last start Pettibone allowed eight hits and two runs while striking out five over 5.0 innings against the Marlins.
Colorado is 6-2 as a home favorite, 7-20 against the NL East, and 4-1 in Chatwood’s last five home starts. Philadelphia is 4-1 against a team with a losing record, 16-35 as an underdog, and 1-5 in Pettibone’s last six road starts. Philadelphia is 12-4 in their last 16 games in Colorado.
The total is set at 10.5 and I see it staying under that number and the under is my free pick though it is a lean.
I also have a play on the winning side and I will post that in the Premium Area as well as on the App.
