For the third time this season, the Arizona Diamondbacks and Los Angeles Dodgers will square off in a series. The Dodgers have won all five games against the Diamondbacks this year.
The Diamondbacks were just swept by the New York Mets and have now lost six straight games. While the Diamondbacks pitching staff has allowed at least five runs in seven straight games, the offense hasn’t been much better. The Diamondbacks have been held to three or less runs in four of their last six games and have struck out 139 times. Wade Miley will start his fifth game of the season, as he’s 2-2 with a 5.04 ERA and has 19 strikeouts in 25 innings. Miley is 3-3 with a 4.21 ERA in nine career starts against the Dodgers.

The Dodgers lost two of three to the San Francisco Giants, but have won four of their last six games overall. The Dodgers pitching has allowed three or less runs in four of their last six games, and Adrian Gonzalez has at least one hit in 12 straight games. While the Dodgers lineup continues to put runs on the board, Zack Greinke will look to improve to 4-0 on the season. Greinke has allowed just five runs in 16.1 innings of work and has 21 strikeouts. Greinke is 3-3 with a 4.96 ERA in nine career starts against the Diamondbacks.
The Diamondbacks are 8-2 in Miley's last 10 starts vs. a team with a winning record and 2-5 in Miley's last 7 starts as an underdog. The Dodgers are 10-1 in Greinke's last 11 starts during game 1 of a series and 22-6 in Greinke's last 28 starts. The Diamondbacks are 4-1 in Miley's last 5 road starts vs. Dodgers, while the Dodgers are 4-0 in Greinke's last 4 starts vs. Diamondbacks.
While Miley has had success pitching on the road against the Dodgers, I'm not sure you can go against Greinke with the way he's pitching. I'm also not sure the Diamondbacks have enough offense to keep this game close.
Take the Dodgers as long as the price is reasonable.
