The Kansas City Royals and the Minnesota Twins face off on Saturday for game two of their series.
The Kansas City Royals were swept by the Twins last weekend in Minnesota and they are looking for some revenge here and they got some winning on Friday. Mike Moustakas hit a home run, Alcides Escobar had three hits, and Omar Infante and Eric Hosmer each had two hits as the Royals scored five runs on 11 hits. Starting pitcher Jason Vargas allowed seven hits and struck out four over 7.0 innings to get the win and go to 2-0 on the season. Or Saturday’s game the Royals start Bruce Chen who took a loss in his last start. For the season Chen has allowed 14 hits and seven runs while striking out 10 over 10 innings for a 0-1 record and a 6.30 ERA.

The Minnesota Twins had a solid week and were coming off of a sweep of a double header but the bats never woke up on Friday. Josmil Pinto had two hits and Joe Mauer, Brian Dozier, and Chris Colabello all had hits as the Twins were shutout on eight hits. Starting pitcher Ricky Nolasco allowed 11 hits and five runs while striking out three over 5.2 innings to take the loss and fall to 1-2 for the season. For Saturday’s game the Twins start Kevin Correia who is still looking for his first win of the year. For the season Correia has allowed 20 hits and 11 runs while striking out 10 over 18.2 innings for a 0-1 record and a 5.30 ERA.
Kansas City is 5-1 as a home favorite, 16-6 in their last 22 home games, and 11-3 in Chen’s last 14 starts as a favorite. Minnesota is 5-2 as an underdog, 4-11 in their last 15 road games, and 2-8 in Correia’s last 10 road starts. Minnesota is 2-9 in their last 11 games in Kansas City.
The Twins got the best of it last weekend but for another day this weekend belongs to the Royals.
