The Texas Rangers and the Chicago White Sox face off on Saturday in Game two of their series in Arlington.
The Texas Rangers have had some frustrations this season but they took them all out on the White Sox pounding them on Friday. Leonys martin and Robinson Chirinos each hit home runs and Alex Rios and James Adduci each had three hits as the Rangers scored 12 runs on 18 hits. Starting pitcher Martin Perez had a career day allowing three hits and no runs while striking out eight over 9.0 innings to get the win to go to 3-0 for the season. For Saturday’s game the Rangers start Colby Lewis who makes his second start of the season after missing last year. In his first outing Lewis allowed eight hits and four runs while striking out four over 5.1 innings to take the loss against the Mariners.
USA TODAY Sports
The Chicago White Sox had no answers offensively nor defensively as they fell to the Rangers Friday. Adam Eaton, Alexei Ramirez, and Leury Garcia each had hits as the White Sox were shutout getting just the three hits. Starting pitcher Felipe Paulino had nothing as he allowed 13 hits and 10 runs while striking out three over 3.2 innings to take the loss. For Saturday’s game the White Sox start Jose Quintana who is coming off of his second no decision of the year in his last start. For the season Quintana allowed 15 hits and five runs while striking out 18 over 19 innings for a 1-0 record and a 2.37 ERA.
Texas is 5-1 in their last six games, 36-17 as a favorite, and 2-5 in Lewis’ last seven starts. Chicago is 15-32 in their last 47, 17-48 on the road, and 2-9 in Quintana’s last 11 road starts against a team with a winning home record. Chicago is 4-2 in the last six meetings of these two.
