The Detroit Tigers and the Los Angeles Angels face off on Sunday at Tiger Stadium on Sunday for the rubber match of their three game series.
The Detroit Tigers lost their series opener to the Angels on Friday but bounced back on Saturday getting the win in game two. Victor Martinez had two hits including a home run, Nick Casellanos hit a home run, and Austin jacksonand Bryan Holaday each had two hits as the Tigers scored five runs on hits. Starting pitcher Max Scherzer allowed three hits and a run while striking out nine over 7.0 innings to get the win and go to 1-1 for the season. For Sunday’sg ame the Tigers start Rick Porcello who is coming off of a loss in his last start. For the season Porcello has allowed 13 hits and six earned runs while striking out eight over 13 innings for a 1-1 record and a 4.15 ERA.

The Los Angeles Angels got off to a fast start on Saturday but that didn’t last long as they lost to the Tigers. J.B. Shuck hit a leadoff home run, Albert Pujols hit a home run, and Howie Kendrick had a hit as the Angels scored two runs o four hits. Starting pitcher C.J. Wilson allowed seven hits and four runs, three earned, while striking out four over 5.0 innings to take the loss and fall to 2-2 for the season. For Sunday’s game the Angels start Hector Santiago who is still looking for his first win this year. For the season Santiago has allowed 17 hits and nine runs while striking out 13 over 16.1 innings for a 0-2 record and a 4.96 ERA.
Detroit is 10-1 against a left-handed starter, 1-4 following a win, and 37-14 in Porcello’s last 51 starts against a team with a losing record. Los Angeles is 5-1 following a loss, 4-10 against a right-handed starter, and 1-8 as an underdog. Los Angeles is 10-2 in the last 12 meetings of these two.
The total is set at 8.5 but the over looks easy and that is my free pick.
