The Oakland A’s and the Houston Astros meet on Sunday in Oakland as they close out their AL West series.
The Oakland A’s looked like certain losers on Saturday but they never quit and pulled off the walk-off win. Jed Lowrie hit a home run, Josh Reddick and nick Punto had three hits each, and Yoenis Cespedes and Craig Gentry had two hits each as the A’s scored four runs on 14 hits. Starting pitcher Scott Kazmir allowed six hits and three runs, two earned, while striking out five over 8.0 innings to not get a decision as Dam Otero earned his third win of the season. For Sunday’s game the A’s start Jesse Chavez who doesn’t have a decision in his three starts. For the season Chavez has allowed 15 hits and three runs while striking out 22 over 20 innings for a 0-0 record and a 1.35 ERA.

The Houston Astros controlled most of the action on Saturday but they were unable to hold on and took the loss. Jonathan Villar had two hits including a home run, and Jose Altuve, George Springer, and Chris Carter all had hits as the Astros scored three runs on seven hits. Starting pitcher Brett Oberholtzer allowed eight hits and a run while striking out three over 5.1 innings for a no decision as Chad Qualls was tagged with the blown save and the loss. For Sunday’s game the Astros start Brad Peacock who has been working out of the bullpen this season. For the year Peacock has allowed 12 hits and eight runs while striking out 11 over 9.2 innings for a 0-1 record and a 7.45 ERA.
Oakland is 5-0 against a right-handed starter, 38-17 in their last 55 games, and 48-23 in game three of a series. Houston is 20-61 in game three of a series, 14-38 after losing the first two games of a series, and 1-5 in Peacock’s last six starts against a team with a winning record. Houston is 5-22 in the last 27 meetings of these two.
Oakland is the far better team here and while the odds make this unplayable to me they are a must in your parlays.
