The Miami Marlins and Atlanta Braves will play game two on Tuesday night. The Braves won game one in the 10th inning, 4-2.
The Marlins watched their three-game winning streak come to an end when Evan Gattis hit a walkoff homerun. The Marlins are 0-5 this season when scoring two or less runs. The Marlins pitching staff has been on point for much of this stretch, allowing no more than four runs in five of their last six games, while Christian Yelich has at least one hit in 15 straight games. The Marlins have to feel good with Jose Fernandez taking the mound, as Fernandez is 2-1 on the season with a 2.66 ERA and has 33 strikeouts in 23.2 innings. In two career starts against the Braves, Fernandez is 1-1 with an ERA of 2.08.
USA TODAY Sports
The Braves have won eight of their last 10 games, which includes four in a row at home. The Braves offense continues to struggle with consistency and that was also an issue in game one, as they struck out 10 times. However, the Braves pitching staff has allowed two or less runs in four of their last six games. One of those pitchers who has been solid for the Braves all season is Alex Wood, who has allowed just five runs and 23 hits in 27 innings of work. Wood is 0-1 with a 5.56 ERA in four career games against the Marlins.
The Marlins are 11-4 in Fernandezs last 15 starts and 1-8 in Fernandezs last 9 road starts vs. a team with a winning record. The Braves are 37-18 in their last 55 games as a favorite and 71-30 in their last 101 home games. The Marlins are 5-12 in the last 17 meetings in Atlanta.
I see another low scoring game between these two teams with two great pitchers on the mound. Fernandez hasn't given up much of anything in his career and is one of the best pitchers in basbeall, while Wood is on fire.
I also have a play on the side and I will post that in the Premium Area as well as on the App.
