The Houston Astros and the Oakland A’s face off on Friday in Houston For game two of their AL West series.
The Houston Astros are struggling once again this season and we saw them struggling again on Thursday getting pounded by the A’s. Jose ALtuve had three hits and Matt Dominguez and Jonathan Villar each had two hits as the Astros scored just one run on 10 hits. Starting pitcher Brett Oberholtzer allowed eight hits and six runs while striking out four lasting just 3.2 innings to take the loss. For Friday’s game the Astros start Brad Peacock who has worked as both a starter and out of the bullpen this season. For the season Peacock has allowed 17 hits and 10 runs while striking out 15 over 14.2 innings for a 0-2 record and a 6.14 ERA.

The Oakland A’s were swept at home by the Rangers but they bounced back on Thursday clubbing the Astros. Josh Donaldson had three hits including two home runs, Jed Lowrie had three hits, and Jose Alberto Callespo hit a home run as the A’s scored 10 runs on 14 hits. Starting pitcher Scott Kazmir allowed five hits and a run while striking out seven over 6.0 innings to get the win. For Friday’s game the A’s start Jesse Chavez who is coming off of a win in his last start. For the season Chavez has allowed 19 hits and four runs while striking out 28 over 26 innings for a 1-0 record and a 1.38 ERA.
Houston is 28-67 in game two of a series, 14-41 in their last 55 games, and 1-5 in Peacock’s last six home starts. Oakland is 5-1 in their last six road games, 4-1 in game two of a series, and 4-0 in Chavez’s last four starts. Oakland is 10-1 in their last 11 games in Houston.
The A’s are a big favorite as they should be and it would be tough to pick against them in this spot.
