The Boston Red Sox haven’t found their ground yet this season and they are in last place in the AL East. The Red Sox are 5-5 on the road, 5-5 in their last 10 games, and they are coming off of a loss on Thursday. As a team the Red Sox are hitting .242 with Mike Napoli hitting .294, Xander Bogarts hitting .282, Dustin Pedroia hitting .269, and David Ortiz hitting .256. The Boston pitching staff has an ERA of 3.59 with the starters at 4.36 and the bullpen at 2.17. For game one in Toronto the Red Sox start Jake Peavy who doesn’t have a decision this season. For the year Peavy has allowed 22 hits and nine runs while striking out 25 over 24.1 innings for a 0-0 record and a 3.33 ERA.
Toronto is 6-2 at home against a right-handed starter, 1-4 as a favorite, and 10-3 in Buehrle’s last 13 home starts. Boston is 10-1 on the road against a left-handed starter, 0-4in game one of a series, and 1-5 in Peavy’s last six starts against a team with a winning record.
The total is set at 8.5 and I look for it to stay comfortably under that number.
My stronger play is on who will win this one and I will post that pick in the Premium Area as well as on the App.
