The Chicago White Sox hope to put on a show for the home crowd in Saturday's bout with Tampa Bay.
If you follow Tampa Bay you know they are slow starters and that's because runs are at a premium. That means the work on the mound has to manage the scoreboard and when the offense comes through the game has to go in the win column. A 9th inning meltdown on the mound saw five runs plated by the White Sox in a 9-6 defeat Friday. Chris Archer wasn't at his best with four runs allowed in six frames but after the Rays went ahead 6-4 with a pair of 9th inning runs Grant Belfour was tagged for five runs including a walkoff grand slam. TB posted ten hits and walked eleven times with Evan Longoria leading the way with a two run bomb in the 9th. Tampa Bay turns to Cesar Ramos on the mound for his third start of the 2014 campaign. Through two games Ramos has gone 0-1 with a 4.91 ERA covering eleven innings pitched.

I don't know if the White Sox are the biggest surprise in the early going but they are a good story with their competiveness and their refusal to quit. Chicago rallied from 4-1 and 6-4 deficits that was capped off by Jose Abreu's walkoff slam. The night didn't begin well with starter Erik Johnson giving up four runs on four hits and four free passes in only 1.2 frames before Matt Lindstrom was tagged for a two run homer in the 9th only to get the win thanks to a five run rally in the bottom of the 9th. The bats totaled 12 hits with Abreu adding a two run bomb to his GS while Tyler Flowers knocked in two runs. Left hander John Danks toes the rubber against Tampa Bay hoping to pick up win number three of the season. Through four starts Danks has posted a 2-0 record with a 2.45 ERA.
I am thinking the White Sox have momentum here although momentum in baseball can hinge on a single pitch. My thinking is Danks has the edge on the mound and the offense can score so why not take a shot in a tossup...
