The Milwaukee Brewers and the Chicago Cubs face off on Sunday at Miller Park for game three of their series.
The Milwaukee Brewers continue to lead the NL Central and they padded their led with a win over the Cubs on Saturday. Khris Davis had two hits including a home run and Mark Reynolds and Jeff Bianchi each had two hits as the Brewers scored five runs on eight hits. Starting pitcher Marco Estrada allowed four hits and three runs while striking out nine over 7.2 innings to get the win and go to 2-1 for the season and Francisco Rodriguez earned his 11th save. For Sunday’s game the Brewers start Wily Peralta who has won his last three starts. For the season Peralta has allowed 21 hits and six earned runs while striking out 19 over 24.2 innings for a 3-0 record and a 2.19 ERA.

The Chicago Cubs are looking like they may be out of the NL Central race by the end of April as theylost again and are now 10.5 games out. Luis Valbuena and Wellington Castillo each had home runs and Starlin Castro had a hit as the Cubs scored three runs on four hits. Starting pitcher Travis Wood allowed seven hits and five runs while striking out three over 5.2 innings to take the loss and fall to 1-3 for the season. For Sunday’s game the Cub start Jason Hammel who has been the Cubs best pitcher this season. For the year Hammel has allowed 14 hits and eight runs while striking out 20 over 27.2 inning for a 3-1 record and a 2.60 ERA.
Milwaukee is 5-0 against the NL Central, 22-7 in their last 29 games, and 6-0 in Peralta’s last six home starts. Chicago is 25-57 in their last 82 games, 7-21 in their last 28 road games, and 7-21 as a road underdog. Chicago is 5-24 in their last 29 games in Milwaukee.
These are two teams on the opposite ends of the spectrum and the Brewers are the easy choice here.
