The Cleveland Indians look to go on a hot streak at the expense of the Los Angeles Angels.
Cleveland made Detroit work for the American League Central title a season ago but they have yet to duplicate their strong play of a season ago. That didn't change on the road against the Angels in a 6-3 loss with Los Angeles breaking a tie with a late scoring burst. Despite what the numbers might say starter Justin Masterson was competitive. Masterson was charged with all six runs (five earned) over 7.1 frames with three runs scored in the 8th that broke the game open. The Tribe mustered five hits with Carlos Santana clubbing a three run homer in the 4th for a 3-1 lead but nothing much happened after that. Corey Kluber faces the Angels for the first time in his career on Tuesday. Kluber is coming off his best game of the young season when he beat Kansas City 5-1 in a complete game, eleven strikeout effort.

The Angels have a few big bats and a few very good arms so they hope to be a factor in the American League West. Time will tell as this team has struggled the past several years despite talent on the roster. Los Angeles received contributions on the mound and at the plate in a 6-3 victory over visiting Cleveland Monday with Tyler Skaggs giving up a three run homer over seven frames but nothing else. LAA posted seven hits and walked three times with Erick Aybar and Raul Ibanez each driving in a pair of runs. The Angels didn't crush the ball but bunched hits together with two runs in the 5th and three in the 8th. Los Angeles sends ace Jered Weaver to the hill looking for his third consecutive quality performance. Weaver has gone six innings in consecutive outings with only one run given up in each.
Kluber is a solid hurler and Weaver is the best the Angels have so in my view he has to come up big and get his team a win. I trust the Angels bats a bit more as well so I'll back the home team...
