The New York Yankees and Seattle Mariners take the field in game two of their series on Wednesday.
Baseball is a funny game as nothing always goes as planned with struggling teams beating the best teams. Seattle is just trying to reach the .500 mark and wasn't given much thought Tuesday aginst East leader New York but played a complete game in a 6-3 victory for their fourth win in five contests. Chris Young was solid over 5.2 frames with two runs scored to pick up the win. The bats were just as solid with a hefty 15 hits that saw Corey Hart lead the way with a pair of RBI's. Overall all but one player recorded at least one hit with five driving in runs and six scoring. Rookie Roenis Elias gets his 6th start when he faces the Yankees for the first time. Elias is 1-2 with a 3.54 ERA with 24 hits and 14 bases on balls allowed covering 28 innings pitched.

The Yankees had won back to back contests before running in to a Seattle squad who has played well over the past week. The Mariners simply played better in all areas of their 6-3win as the Yankees couldn't hold an early 2-0 lead. CC Sabathia held the M's scoreless through four frames but was touched for four 5th inning runs which ended his night. The offense had a few chances to do some damage on eight hits and a trio of free passes but never got the big hit to break things open a bit. Mark Texeira did blast a solo homer and the Yanks did have a few runners on base in the 9th but mustered only one run. The Yankees pull David Phelps out of the bullpen to make his first start of 2014 versus the Mariners. Phelps has thrown only 11.2 frames with ten hits and seven walks given up.
Not much to go on here with Elias having a small track record. I am not a big Phelps fan and he could go six scoreless or allow four in five innings. Right now I would rather go with the plus odds or sit on the sideline...
