The first place Milwaukee Brewers take on division rival the St. Louis Cardinals at Busch Stadium.
There are always surprise in this game especially in the early going. Milwaukee might be the biggest surprise as they are tearing it up thus far on their way to the top spot in the National League Central. The mighty Cardinals were not able to slow down the Brewers Tuesday in a 5-4 eleven inning victory. Kyle Lohse gave up three runs over six frames before Will Smith blew the save but the pen held St Louis at bay. The bats managed nine hits with Lohse driving in two while Carlos Gomez mashed his n6th homer. Matt Garza gets the call to the mound on Wednesday to face the Cardinals for the second time. Garza is coming in off of a 5-2 victory over the Cubs where he allowed both runs on four hits in seven frames.

St Louis was one team everybody penciled in as a challenger in the National League Central and I have to think they will be in the running if Milwaukee ever slows down. The Cardinals aren't hitting the ball with any consistency but the season is still young. In Tuesday's defeat the pitching struggled with starter Lance Lynn giving up three runs in five frames with the loss going to Kevin Siegrist allowing the game winner in the 11th. The Cards posted nine hits with Yadier Molina leading the way with a three run jack but 17 strikeouts was a bback breaker. Shelby Miller toes the rubber in Wednesday's home bout with the first place Brewers. Miller has been at his best the last two games with zero runs scored on seven hits and nine BB in eleven innings.
I believe the Cardinals have the pitching advantage but the Brewers are better at the plate. For now I'll go with the home team but going against Milwaukee might not be smart...
