The Los Angeles Angels and the Texas Rangers face off on Saturday in Anaheim for game two of their AL West series.
The Los Angeles Angels jumped out to the early lead on Friday night but they were unable to make it stand up as they fell to the Rangers. Albert Pujols and J.B. Shuck had two hits each and Mike Trout and Howie Kendrick added hits as the Angels scored two runs on eight hits. Starting pitcher Hector Santiago allowed seven hits and five runs while striking out five over 6.0 innings to take the loss and fall to 0-5 for the season. For Saturday’s game the Angels start Garrett Richards who has no decisions in each of his last three starts. For the season Richards has allowed 16 hits and nine earned runs while striking out 31 over 32 innings for a 2-0 record and a 2.53 ERA.

The Texas Rangers never gave in tot the Angels on Friday and ended up getting the win. Shin-Soo Choo had three hits including a home run, Alex Rios had two hits including a home run, and Elvis Andrus and Prince Fielder added hits as the Rangers scored five runs on nine hits. Starting pitcher Colby Lewis allowed seven hits and two runs while striking out six over 5.2 innings to get the win and go to 2-1 for the season and Joakim Soria earned his seventh save. For Saturday’s game the Rangers start matt Harrison who is making his second start of the season, In his first outing Harrison allowed three hits and two runs while striking out four over 6.0 innings getting a no decision against the Mariners.
Los Angeles is 4-1 as a home favorite, 5-12 against the AL West, and 10-4 in Richards last 14 home starts. Texas is 4-1 as an underdog, 1-4 in their last five games, and 7-3 in Harrison’s last 10 starts as a road underdog. Texas is 21-7 in the last 28 meetings of these two.
