The Mets look to shake off last night’s ugly loss to the Rockies as they send Dillon Gee to the mound to take on Jhoulys Chacin
The Mets looked as though they were in the clear last night as they held a 6-0 lead through four innings but the Rockies blew things open in the bottom of the fifth with an eight run set that swung momentum in the home team’s favour. New York did show some resolve by getting at Rockies’ usually sure handed closer LaTroy Hawkins but they gave it all back in the bottom of the ninth with a walk off pinch hit home run from Charlie Culberson. The Mets’ bullpen has been atrocious this season as they lost Bobby Parnell on the first day of the year and haven’t been able to find a suitable replcament since and now with the latest victim coming in the form of Kyle Farnsworth there is no telling how many games the Mets will be able to win especially if they’re close. Dillon Gee will look to give the Mets a much needed road victory here as he goes up against Jhoulys Chcain who has been activated from the DL.

The Rockies have been hitting the cover off the ball so far this season as Coors Field is a very hitter friendly park but they have been doing it on the road as well and could be a dark horse team in the NL this season. Colorado is anchored by Carlos Gonzalez and Troy Tulowitzki, but the emergence of Charlie Blackmon and Nolan Arenado, and the addition of Justin Morneau and Drew Stubbs has done wonders for Colorado’s ridiculous batting order. Colorado’s starting pitching leaves a little bit to be desried which could be something they address down the stretch if they’re still in a playoff position and hile guys like Jorge De la Rosa and Juan Nicasio are decent I don’t see them as being guys you can lean in in a short series come playoff time. However, the Rockies can more than make up for their lackluster pitching staff with their pop at the plate and I see that continuing here after an inspiring come from behind win last night. I am laying the extra run here.
