The Toronto Blue Jays look to leave PNC Park with a win in the final game of their interleague match up.
I have watched Toronto closely in the early stages of 2014 and although they appear to be better then a year ago the same problems still plague them. Blown leads and missed opportunities have been a problem and have now cost the Jays for the second straight night in an 8-6 defeat. RA Dickey gave up just three runs in 6.1 frames with Aaron Loup giving three and Todd Redmond two. The bright spot was the offense which has been hot as of late with at least five runs scored in six of seven with Jose Bautista slamming his 9th to extend his hitting streak to 13 games. Dustin McGowan is charged with preventing the team's third straight loss at PNC Park on Sunday. On the year McGowan is 1-1 with a 5.87 ERA over 23 innings.

The Pirates have looked nothing like the contender to the National League Central title they were thought to be. That was until the past two nights where the Blue Jays bull pen gift wrapped a pair of wins. The Buccos scored a walkoff win Friday and scored five late runs versus the Toronto pen to secure an 8-6 victory Saturday night. The Pirates featured comebacks from 5-0 and 6-2 holes to help Francico Liriano to a no decision despite hitting the showers in the 4th with the Blue Jays off and running with a 5-0 lead. The Pittsburgh offense chipped away at the deficit until Neil Walker ripped a two run double in the 8th to plate the winning runs. The Pirates hand the ball to Edinson Volquez who has thrown the ball better then his record indicates. Volquez is just 1-2 with a 3.21 ERA in five starts that total 33+ innings.
The worries for backing Toronto are what happens when the pen is called in to play because that is when Pittsburgh has done their damage. I will not back Toronto here right or wrong for this reason...
