The Seattle Mariners and Oakland Athletics square off at O.co Coliseum in AL West action.
Seattle heads in to O.co Coliseum playing their best baseball of the young season. The Mariners outlasted Houston 8-7 Sunday for their fifth win in six contests with the offense producing 37 runs in this span. The M's needed every run with starter Brandon Mauer giving up four runs in five innings while Charlie Furbush gave up two in the 8th with Danny Farquhar giving up another in the 9th. The bats piled up 12 hits with Robinson Cano and Wilie Bloomquist driving in two runs each. Chris Young heads to the mound to face Oakland for the second time this season. Young threw the ball well in that 3-0 loss (ND) with a four hit shutout over seven innings.

Oakland salvaged the final game of their weekend set at Fenway Park by a 3-2 count after being outscored 13-4 in dropping the first two. Even though the bats struggled throughout the series Sonny Gray made a few runs work with another strong outing. Gray did not get a decision with both runs allowed over six innings while four relievers put up goose eggs. The A's offense had plenty of runners on eight hits and six free passes with Yoenis Cespedes knocking in two and Brandon Moss plating another. Left hander Scott Kazmir toes the rubber in an early season rematch on the mound when he faces Seattle. Kazmir won the first meeting 3-0 with six scoreless innings where he struck out nine.
Oakland is obviously the better team but Seattle is hitting the ball and playing better then the AL West leaders. I'm leaning home team but not a game I'd bet...
