The Boston Red Sox and the Cincinnati Reds face off on Tuesday at Fenway park for game one of their interleague series.
The Boston Red Sox haven’t looked like the team they were last season when they won the World Series but with no one pulling away in the AL East they have plenty of time and they are still close to the leaders. The Cincinnati Reds are still battling key injuries but they are still within striking distance in the NL Central. As a team the Reds are hitting .253 with Brandon Phillips hitting .279, Joey Votto hitting .275, and Ryan Ludwick hitting .273. Boston is 36-15 following a loss, 42-13 in their last 55 interleague home games against a team with a losing record, and 1-4 in Doubront’s last five starts. Cincinnati is 4-1 in their last five interleague road games, 5-11 following a win, and 2-6 in Bailey’s last eight starts. Cincinnati is 1-5 in the last six meetings of these two.
Boston is a reasonable favorite here but Bailey appears to be getting it together and when he does that he is extremely tough and I like him here.
