The Boston Red Sox shoot for another win over the visiting Cincinnati Reds on Wednesday.
Cincinnati has yet to explode as many are expecting with a slow start resulting in a team trying to get to .500 and going from there. The Reds quest for .500 took a step back in Tuesday's 4-3 defeat at Boston as the bats couldn't support strong starting pitching. Homer Bailey kept his team competitive with three runs given up on five hits and five free passes in six innings before Logan Ondrusek gave up the winning run in the 12th. The Reds totaled ten hits with Todd Frazier, Ryan Ludwick and Skip Schumaker driving in runs but their were some missed chances. Mike Leake looks to get back in the win column when he faces the always dangerous Red Sox. Leake was at his best last time out in a 2-0 loss to Milwaukee with both runs allowed on seven hits in eight frames.

Boston has yet to get hot and become a force in the American League East but they did take a step in the right direction with a win on Tuesday although it wasn't easy. Felix Doubront did his part with just one run scored in five innings before Junichi Tazawa blew the save with a pair of runs plated in the 8th. Three relievers held the fort to give the bats a shot at the win and they didn't let the team down with a solid eleven hit, seven walk attack with Mike Napoli and Grady Sisemore driving in a pair of runs apiece. Veteran Jake Peavy looks to stay hot with another quality start at Fenway Park versus Cincinnati. Peavy dropped a 2-1 decision at Tampa Bay with both runs plated on three hits and five BB in 6.1 frames.
I think the match up on the mound is even enough to call it a draw and the respective offenses are much the same. I find it hard to find an edge here so likely not a play especially if I like the team laying the chalk...
