The Oakland Athletics look to cool off red hot Seattle Wednsday in game one of their doubleheader.
Seattle is playing their best baseball of the year and I can't imagine this team playing any better despite plenty of season to be played. The Mariners knocked off Oakland 8-3 on Tuesday to record win number nine in eleven contests. Roenis Elias held his team together with three runs scored on five hits and a trio of BB in 6.1 frames with three relievers tossing scoreless ball. The offense didn't waste the effort with ten hits and five walks with Justin Smoak leading the way with two hits, three RBI's and a pair of runs scored. Seattle sends ace Felix Hernandez to the mound to face the dangerous Athletics for the third time. Hernandez has looked like his normal stingy self with a 3-1 record and 2.53 ERA in seven starts.

Even though Oakland hasn't been at their best they are still the best team in the American League West with plenty of firepower in all areas. Nothing went as planned Wednesday against surging Seattle although the game was closer then the final score with the Mariners scoring four times in the 9th. Jesse Chavez couldn't contain the M's offense with four runs plated in 5.2 frames with Jim Johnson charged with four runs in the 9th. The A's never got going at the plate with seven hits and five free passes with Yoenis Cespedes leaving the yard while Nick Punto drove in two. Daniel Straily toes the rubber Wednesday looking to cool down the surging Mariners. Straily comes in off a 7-1 loss at Boston in which he allowed a two runs on four hits and three BB in 4.1 frames.
I know the Mariners are hot and have King Felix going but I still dislike them as a favorite especially on the road. I'm still backing them but it just doesn't seem right...
