The Baltimore Orioles look to solidify first in the AL East with another win versus the Houston Astros.
I have said Houston looks improved to me although that's difficult to back up on a team that is 14 games below .500. The Astros fell to 11-25 following a 4-3 loss at Baltimore in game one of their series as the pitching and fell just short. Scott Feldman received a no decision despite allowing two runs in six frames with Jerome Williams giving up two runs in two frames to absorb the loss. The offense didn't put many runners on base with six hits Chris Carter connecting on his 5th homer. The Astros give Saturday's starting assignment to Collin McHugh who struggled last time out against Seattle. McHugh allowed six runs (five earned) on eight hits over four innings of work.

Baltimore hasn't been running over opponents but they have been winning which is always the bottom line. The Orioles won number four in a row Friday and seven of eleven overall to lay claim to first in the American League East. Wei-Yin Chen improved to 3-2 with a pair of runs plated on five hits in seven innings with Tommy Hunter getting his 10th save despite allowing a 9th inning run. The Orioles totaled eight hits and received long balls off the bats of Manny Machado and Steve Pearce. Miguel Gonzalez toes the rubber in game two of the series with Houston. Gonzalez had control issues in a 5-2 loss at Minnesota where he gave uo three runs on six hits and four BB over 4.2 innngs.
I think that laying chalk with Baltimore is a bit hairy because they don't win big and teams have tended to hang close. I'll back the Birds but laying the chalk isn't for me...
