The Kansas City Royals and Seattle Mariners meet for game three on Saturday with the series tied at one apiece.
The Royals have won three of their last four games and are getting much better production from their pitching staff. After going many games of allowing five or more runs, the Royals have allowed one run or less in four straight games. Of course, that means holding the Mariners to just one run in each of the first two games of this series. Eric Hosmer has 12 hits in his last five games and Alex Gordon had three hits in Friday’s victory. Taking the mound will be Yordano Ventura, who is 2-1 with a 2.00 ERA and has 41 strikeouts in 36 innings. This is Ventura’s second career start against the Mariners.

Even with the loss, the Mariners have still won six of their last eight games. While the Mariners pitching rotation has been getting the job done for the most part, it really starts on the offensive end as they’ve scored four or more runs in nine of their last 12 games. Justin Smoak leads the Mariners with 22 RBI and Robinson Cano has one homer and 19 RBI. Starting on Saturday is Chris Young, who is 2-0 with a 3.03 ERA and has 15 strikeouts in 29.2 innings. This is Young’s second career start against the Royals.
The Royals are 45-21 in their last 66 games as a favorite and 23-9 in their last 32 games as a road favorite. The Mariners are 1-5 in their last 6 home games vs. a right-handed starter and 7-1 in their last 8 games as an underdog.
While Young may not have terrific stuff, he's found ways to get the job done and the Mariners play well as an underdog. With the M's at home and after losing on Friday, I look for them to bounce back here and get the victory.
Take Seattle and the plus money.
