The Texas Rangers and the Boston Red Sox face off on Saturday in Arlington for game two of their series.
The Texas Rangers had a rough series against the Rockies but they ended that one with a win and they started this one the same way by beating the Boston Red Sox. Leonys Martin had two hits including a home run, Elvis Andrus had four hits, and Mitch Moreland had three hits as the Rangers scored eight runs on 14 hits. Starting pitcher Yu Darvish flirted with a no hitter as he allowed just one hit over 8.2 innings while striking out 12 to get the win to go to 3-1 for the season. For Saturday’s game the Rangers start Martin Perez who as lost his last two starts. For the season Perez has allowed 41 hits and 19 earned runs while striking out 31 over 47.2 innings for a 4-2 record and a 3.59 ERA.

The Boston Red Sox simply had no answers on Friday as they were drubbed in Texas. David Ortiz had the lone hit for Boston and Mike Napoli and Xander Bogaerts each reached on walks as the Red Sox were shutout on one hit. Startingpitcher Clay Buchholz allowed 10 hits and six earned runs while striking out three over 4.1 innings to take the loss and fall to 2-3 for the season. For Saturday’s game the Red Sox start Jon Lester who is coming off of a win in his last start. For the season Lester has allowed 43 hits and 14 earned runs while striking out 58 over 48.2 innings for a 3-4record and a 2.59 ERA.
Texas is 4-8 in their last 12 games, 2-5 in their last seven home games, and 5-2 in Perez’s last seven starts. Boston is 9-4 against the AL West, 20-7 against a left-handed starter, and 3-8 in Lester’s last 11 starts as a road favorite. Boston is 0-5 in Texas.
While Lester is an ace at home, he isn’t even near that level away from home and look for him to get beat here as well.
