The Colorado Rockies look to get back on the winning track with a trip to Kansas City to face the Royals.
The Rockies have been playing very good baseball thus far although although the weekend wasn't very good. Overall Colorado has dropped three of four and would like nothing better then to get a win Tuesday and avoid any kind of losing streak. The Rockies come in off a 4-1 defeat at Cincinnati where the big bats were silent and their defense shoddy. Starter Juan Nicasio allowed all four runs over six frames but just two were earned. The bats totaled four hits and walked three times with Charlie Blackmon's solo homer accounting for the scoring. Lefty Franklin Morales looks to turn around from three poor outings against the Royals on Tuesday. In the three starts Morales has allowed 13 runs on 22 hits and five walks in 16 innings of work.

I keep saying there is no reason to panic for teams off to slow starts but for Kansas City I believe they have to be much better given the way Detroit has been racking uo the wins. The Royals have fashioned a 4-2 record the past week and come off of a 9-7 slug fest at Seattle on Sunday. Four run innings in the second and 7th overcame a dismal performance on the mound from Jeremy Guthrie who was tagged for seven runs on eight hits including three long balls in 4.2 innings. The bullpen saved the day with five relievers shutting down the nariners to give the offense a chance. The long ball saved the Royals with Alcides Escobar clubbing a grand slam with Johnny Giavotella connecting on a three run jack. James Shields is scheduled to be on the mound Tuesday facing dangerous Rockies lineup. Shields was at his best last time out when he tossed a seven hit shutout over seven inings pitched.
Kansas City has the ability to score runs but probably don't want to get in to a slug fest with Colorado and that's where Shields comes in to play. I like Shields to control the scoreboard and for KC to get a few runs off of Morales...
