East meets west when the Atlanta Braves and San Francisco Giants continue their series at AT&T Park.
Atlanta had been struggling to score and it cost them in the win column until a three game sweep of the Cubs over the weekend stopped the bleeding. The bleeding might have started back up after a series opening 4-2 loss at San Francisco on Monday with the offensive woes continuing. Starter Gavin Floyd gave upall four runs on seven hits in 6.1 frames while whiffing eight. That was too much for the Braves offense that mustered only three hits and four walks with solo homers off the bats of Freddie Freeman and BJ Upton accounting for the scoring. Mike Minor makes just his third start of the season when he faces off with San Francisco for the second time. Minor threw the ball well in a 2-1 loss to the Giants with both runs allowed in six innings.

We still have the majority of the season to play but based on what I have seen San Francisco is going to be a force in the National League West. Everything has been clicking over the past few weeks at the Giants have won eight of eleven after Monday's win over visiting Atlanta. Tim Lincecum returned to Cy Young form for a day with one run plated on two hits and four free passes over seven frames while striking out eleven. The bats didn't waste that performance with Tyler Colvin logging a pair of hits including a homer and three RBI's. Surging Ryan Vogelsong has been red hot over his last three outings as he tries to rebound from a poor 2013. Vogelsong has allowed a combined two runs on 12 hits and eight BB in 20.1 innings in this stretch.
Minor is very capable of shutting down any team which is good news for Atlanta while Vogelsong has been throwing the ball well. I'm going with the hotter team but Vogelsong has to continue his resurgence...
