The Seattle Mariners look to continue their winning ways in a Wednesday afternoon bout versus Tampa Bay.

Although Tampa Bay is 5th in the American League East I believe they are fortunate because nobody has run away with the division yet. That givest the Rays a chance to right the ship and get back in the middle of things and they took a step towards that goal with a late rally to upend Seattle 2-1 on Tuesday for just their third win in ten contests. Ace David Price was at his best with a complete game performance that saw him strikeout 12. The offense was dead silent until the 9th when David DeJesus left the yard and Matt Joyce singled in a run. Right hander Jake Odorizzi will be charged with containing the bats of Seattle Wednesday. Odorizzi is looking to build on his best start of 2014 when he tossed five scoreless innings versus Cleveland while whiffing eleven.

Seattle had been the hottest team in the American League West but I don't think they are playing all that great right now. The Mariners are in a tough division so when they enter the 9th with a lead they have to win. Unfortunately Fernando Rodney blew the save and took the loss when he gave up a pair of 9th inning runs in only 2/3 of an inning which squandered Hisashi Iwakuma's gem of eight scoreless innings. The offense deserves some blame as well with only six hits to their credit although David Price had something to do with that. Robinson Cano drove in the lone run in the first which seemed like it would be enough before the pen failed. Brandon Mauer toes the rubber in the final game of their series against visiting Tampa Bay. Mauer was hit hard in a 6-1 loss to Kansas City with all six runs plated on 14 hits over 7.1 innings.

When I look at the respective hurlers I don't see any much success which has me looking at the over. The problem is neither team is the model of consistency at the plate and picking a side is a coin flip...
