The Line: San Francisco Giants -130 / Miami Marlins +120 --- Over/Under: 7 See the Latest Odds
The Miami Marlins and San Francisco Giants will begin a four-game series on Thursday night at AT&T Park.
The Marlins have lost five of their last six games and are a brutal 4-15 on the road. For whatever reason the Marlins pitching falls off a cliff on the road, as they’ve allowed five or more runs in 11 of their 19 road games this season. Offensively, Giancarlo Stanton is riding a 16-game hitting streak. Nate Eovaldi gets the nod, and he’s 2-1 with a 2.86 ERA and has 48 strikeouts in 50.1 innings. Eovaldi is 1-2 with a 12.21 ERA in three career starts against the Giants.

The Giants have won five of their last seven games and are 11 games above a .500 record. Of course, the Giants pitching has led most of the way, allowing three or less runs in 23 of their first 41 games. The Giants team ERA of 3.13 is fourth best in the major leagues. Offensively, Buster Posey has 15 hits in his last 10 games and Angel Pagan will be back in the lineup after missing Wednesday’s game. Taking the mound is Matt Cain, who is 0-3 with a 4.25 ERA and has 29 strikeouts in 36 innings. Cain is 5-4 with a 3.07 ERA in 13 career starts against the Marlins.
The Marlins are 5-2 in Eovaldi's last 7 starts as an underdog and 1-4 in Eovaldi's last 5 starts vs. National League West. The Giants are 2-12 in Cain's last 14 starts as a favorite and 7-19 in Cain's last 26 starts overall. The Marlins are 10-1 in the last 11 meetings in San Francisco.
Eovaldi is now the Marlins top pitcher with Jose Fernandez done for the season, and he has terrific stuff when he's on. Meanwhile, the Giants just can't win to save their life lately when Cain is on the mound. If you're able to put the Marlins road struggles in the back of your mind, we're getting great value with the fish and the plus money.
Take the Marlins.
