The Colorado Rockies and the San Diego Padres face off on Friday at Coors Field for game one of the National League West series.
The Colorado Rockies have gotten off to a nice start but they are still clearly a different team at home than they are on the road. The Rockies are 13-5 at home this season, 4-6 in their last 10 games, and they have lost their last three games in a row. As a team the Rockies pitching staff has an ERA of 4.04 with the starters at 4.19 and the bullpen at 3.76. For Friday’s game the Rockies start Jorge De La Rosa who has won his last four starts. For the season De La Rosa has allowed 39 hits and 23 earned runs while striking out 36 over 43 innings for a 4-3 record and a 4.81 ERA.

The San Diego Padres seem to be fighting an uphill battle once again this season as they struggle to score runs. The Padres are 8-11 on the road, 6-4 in their last 10 games, and they are in fourth place in the NL West. As a team the Padres are hitting .222 with Seth Smith hitting .339, Chris Denorfia hitting .300, and Everth Cabrera hitting .252. As a team the Padres pitching staff has an ERA of 3.02 with the starters at 3.51 and the bullpen at 2.09. For game one at Colorado the Padres start Eric Stults who had a no decision in his earlier start against the Rockies this year. For the season Stults has allowed 58 hits and 22 earned runs while striking out 19 over 39.1 innings for a 2-3 record and a 5.03 ERA.
Colorado is 6-1 in their last seven games as a favorite, 6-2 in their last eight game one of a series, and 23-9 in De la Rosa’s last 32 starts. San Diego is 15-6 in game one of a series, 1-4 against the NL West, and 5-13 in Stults’ last 18 road games. San Diego has won five of their last seven games against the Rockies.
The total is set at 10 and I like the over in this spot. My stronger play is on the winning side and I will post that in the Premium Area as well as on the App.
