The Kansas City Royals and the Baltimore Orioles face off on Saturday in Kansas City For game three if their series.
The Kansas City Royals dropped their series opener to the Orioles on Thursday and they didn’t get any closer to winning on Friday. Eric Hosmer, Norichicka Aoki, and Alcides Escobar all had hits as the Royals failed to score while getting five hits. Starting pitcher Jeremy Guthrie allowed eight hits and four runs while striking out two over 8.0 innings to take the loss to fall to 2-3 for the season. For Saturday’s game the Royals start Danny Duffy who has lost both of his starts after working in relief for the early part of the season. For the year Duffy has allowed nine hits and four runs while striking out 17 over 18.1 innings for a 1-3 record and a 1.96 ERA.

The Baltimore Orioles lead the AL Easy and they helped their cause on Friday beating the Royals for the second time in two nights. Chris Davis had two hits including a home run, Nelson Cruz had two hits, and Adam Jones had a hit as the Orioles scored four runs on eight hits. Starting pitcher Chris Tillman allowed five hits while striking out three tossing a shutout while going the full nine innings to get the win and go to 4-2 for the season. For Saturday’s game the Orioles start Bud Norris who took a loss in his last start. For the season Norris has allowed 39 hits and 19 eared runs while striking out 32 over 43 innings for a 2-3 record and a 3.98 ERA.
Kansas City is 2-6 in their last eight home games, 10-4 as a home favorite, and 8-2 in Duffy’s last 10 starts. Baltimore is 5-0 in their last five road games, 2-5 against the AL Central, and 11-5 in Norris’ last 16 starts. Baltimore is 3-5 in the last eight meetings against the Royals.
