The Line: Chicago Cubs -115 / New York Yankees +105 --- Over/Under: See the Latest Odds

The New York Yankees and Chicago Cubs will wrap up their short two-game series on Wednesday afternoon at Wrigley Field.

The Yankees have lost six of their last 10 games, including a 6-1 loss to the Cubs on Tuesday. During this stretch the Yankees pitching staff has been all over the place, allowing five or more runs in all six losses. In Tuesday’s loss, Masahiro Tanaka was touched up for eight hits and four runs. Offensively, Mark Teixeria has five RBI in his last four games. Taking the mound Wednesday will be Chase Whitley, who is 0-0 with a 0.00 ERA and has four strikeouts in 4.2 innings. This will be Whitley’s second career start in the big leagues.

Chicago Cubs vs. New York Yankees MLB Pick, Odds, Prediction - 5/21/14

Don’t look now, but the Cubs have won three straight games and are now just nine games below a .500 record. During this stretch the Cubs pitching staff has been flawless, allowing just three combined runs in those three victories. However, the Cubs pitching has been pretty good this season, it’s the offense that has needed some serious improvements. Starlin Castro is on a five-game hitting streak and Welington Castillo has four RBI in his last two games. Jeff Samardzija gets the nod, and he’s 0-4 with a 1.62 ERA and has 51 strikeouts in 61 innings. This will be Samardzija’s second career game against the Yankees.

The Yankees are 2-5 in their last 7 games as an underdog and 36-15 in their last 51 vs. National League Central. The Cubs are 7-19 in Samardzija's last 26 starts and 2-12 in Samardzija's last 14 home starts. The Yankees are 4-1 in the last 5 meetings vs. the Cubs.

The Cubs are playing well, at home and going up against a rookie pitcher. I'll take Chicago for the cheap price.
