The Cleveland Indians shoot for the sweep of AL Central leading Detroit on Wednesday.
Detroit hasn't done much losing but the last two nights in Cleveland haven't been good ones. Justin Verlander took a rare punch to the chin in a 6-2 defeat at Progressive Field on Wednesday. Verlander was touched for five runs on eleven hits and a trio of free passes in six frames to take the loss. The potent Tigers attack was quiet with seven hits with Torii Hunter and Alex Avila connecting on solo jacks. Max Scherzer looks to continue his hot pitching when he faces Cleveland at Progressive Field. Scherzer is 6-1 with a 1.83 ERA in nine outings covering 59 innings of work.

Cleveland is penciled in as a challenger in the American League Central but their main concern is digging themselves out of an early season hole and getting to .500. The Indians took a step towards that goal with Tuesday's victory over division rival Detroit. The offense handed starter Trevor Bauer a 5-1 lead after two and he didn't waste the support. Bauer allowed both runs on solo homers in six innings to even his record at 1-1. The Tribe received 12 hits and three walks from the offense with David Murphy leaving the yard while Mike Aviles stroked a two run double. A struggling Zach McAllister is scheduled to start the series finale' against the big offense of Detroit. McAllister has allowed 13 runs the last two times out on 13 hits over 5.2 frames.
Cleveland shoots for the sweep Wednesday which would saddle the Tigers with three straight defeats. As hot as Scherzer has been and as cold as McAllister has been I'd rather take my chances with the Tigers...
