The St Louis Cardinals look to stay hot with the Arizona Diamondbacks taking the field Wednesday.
Arizona saw their modest two game winning streak come to an end in a 5-0 loss at St Louis on Tuesday. The Diamondbacks are in dire need of a prolonged hot streak but never got their offense cranked up in this one and the pitching couldn't win it themselves. Bronson Arroyo allowed all five runs on nine hits in seven innings to fall to 4-3 on the season. Not his finest effort but it really didn't matter with the Diamondbacks mustering just a double off the bat of Paul Goldschmidt. The Diamondbacks turn to Brandon McCarthy on the bump to cool off the bats of St Louis. McCarthy was outstanding in a 5-1 defeat to Washington with a run allowed over eight innings.

After Tuesday's victory the Cardinals have to be asking themselves if they have finally turned things around. St Louis has won seven of eleven and picked up a game in the Mational League Central standings with Milwaukee losing at Atlanta. Adam Wainwright was the star of this show with just one hit spoiling a perfect game. Wainwright had to settle for a complete game shutout to improve to 7-2 and drop his ERA to 1.82. The offense didn't waste the performance with Matt Adams and Jhonny Peralta slugging long balls and driving in a pair of runs each. The Cardinals turn to Michael Wacha on the hill Wednesday who shoots for back to back wins against Arizona. Wacha comes in off of a 5-3 victory over the Cubs with two runs plated on seven hits in seven frames.
Wacha has a tough act to follow and has actually been solid but he doesn't get much help from the bats so this isn't a guarantee...
