The Baltimore Orioles and the Cleveland Indians face off on Thursday as Camden Yards in game one of their series.
The Baltimore Orioles are in a battle for first place in the AL East going back and forth between first and second with the New York Yankees. The Orioles are 9-10 at home, 3-7 in their last 10 games, and they are coming out of a long, high scoring game against the Pirates on Wednesday Night in Pittsburgh. As a team the Orioles are hitting .260 with Nick Markakis hitting .287, Adam Jones hitting .287, and J.J. Hardy hitting .276. The Orioles pitching staff has an ERA of 3.94 with the starters at 4.02 and the bullpen at 3.79. For game one against the Indians Baltimore starts Wei-Yin Chen who has won his last two starts. For the season Chen has allowed 57 hits and 19 earned runs while striking out 33 over 46.1 innings for a 5-2 record and a 3.69 ERA.
USA TODAY Sports
The Cleveland Indians played in a marathon on Wednesday but they came back twice to win in extra innings. The Indians are 7-14 on the road this season, 5-5 in their last 10 games, and they have won their last three games. As a team the Indians are hitting .249 with Michael Brantley hitting .302, David Murphy hitting .294, and Yan Gomes hitting .277. The Indians pitching staff has an ERA of 4.18 with the starters at 4.65 and the bullpen at 3.28. As of this time the Indians haven’t named their starting pitcher as Josh Tomlin got the win on Wednesday and he was the scheduled starter here but I will update this with that information when it is available.
Baltimore is 6-1 in game one of a series, 8-3 as a favorite, and 6-1 in Chen’s last seven starts. Cleveland is 21-43 against a team with a winning record, 3-10 in their last 13 road games, and 2-5 as an underdog.
There are no odds for this game as of yet because of the Indians not naming a starter as of yet but I will update this when the odds are released so please check back soon.
