The Miami Marlins host game number three with the Philadelphia Phillies on Thursday afternoon.

Philadelphia is desperate for a long winning streak and one in the works before being humbled 14-5 at Miami on Wednesday that ended their hot streak after three wins. The good news was the offense pounded out 14 hits with Dominic Brown launching a two run homer but the work on the mound wasn't very good. Starter Kyle Kendrick was charged for six runs on seven hits in 5.1 frames with Jeff Manship and Luis Garcia allowing four runs each in the 7th and 8th innings respectively. Left hander Cole Hamels looks to continue his hot pitching when he faces Miami Thursday. Hamels has allowed a single run in each of his last two starts on ten hits in seven inning stints.

Two things we know about the Marlins is they are a dynamite team at home and they can put runs on the scoreboard. Both of those trends were alive and well Wednesday and with starter Nathan Eovoldi limiting the damage the outcome was never in doubt. Eovaldi gave up three runs (one earned) on ten hits and squeezed out of trouble a few times in a six inning stint to get his third win. The offense exploded for 14 hits and seven walks with Marcell Ozuna leaving the yard and driving in five while Christian Yelich, Garrett Jones and Jarrod Saltalamacchia knocking in two runs apiece. The Marlins give the ball to Henderson Alverez Thursday for his second start against Philadelphia in 2014. Alverez has struggled the last two times out with nine runs plated in ten frames.

Hamels has never had a problem containing the Marlins bats but I like the way both teams are hitting and scoring right now. I might be pressing my luck here but I'm looking at the over...
