The Los Angeles Dodgers haven’t been what they were built up to be this season but they still have plenty of time to turn it around. The Dodgers are 16-10 on the road, 5-5 in their last 10 games, and 4.5 game back in the NL West standings. As a team the Dodgers are hitting .261 with Yasiel Puig hitting .331, Dee Gordon hitting .296, and Adrian Gonzalez hitting .281. The Dodgers pitching staff has an ERA of 3.68 with the starters at 3.34 and the bullpen at 4.25. For game one against the Phillies the Dodgers start Clayton Kershaw who was lit up in hos last start allowing seven runs and lasting just 1.2 innings. For the season Kershaw has allowed 27 hits and 11 earned runs while striking out 28 over 22.1 innings for a 2-1 record and a 4.43 ERA.
Philadelphia is 6-2 against the NL West, 2-5 in their last seven home games, and 2-6 in game one of a series. Los Angeles is 4-2 against the NL East, 30-14 in game one of a series, and 8-1 in Kershaw’s last nine starts against a team with a losing record. Los Angeles is 6-1 in their last seven games in Philadelphia.
I look for Kershaw to be closer to his old self than the pitcher we saw get shelled in his last outing and I give the Dodgers the edge here.
