The Atlanta Braves and the Colorado Rockies square off at Turner Field in Saturday afternoon action.
Colorado has been hanging tough in the National League West as they currently sit in second but they have to be careful as Friday's 3-2 loss at Atlanta has the team staring at defeats in seven of eleven. Jordan Lyles kept his team alive with two runs allowed over six innings but Adam Ottavino absorbed the loss with an 8th inning run given up. The offense totaled eight hits with Michael Cuddyer slamming his 4th long ball with Jordan Pacheco rapping an RBI single. Juan Niccasio takes the ball in game two of their series with the Braves. Nicasio didn't have his best stuff in an 8-6 decision at San Diego last time out with four runs scored on nine hits including a pair of homers.

With Friday's series opening win over visiting Colorado, Atlanta has won five of six and most important pick up a game in the National League East with Washington losing. The Braves offense can disappear at times and was nothing special against the Rockies but the pitching saved them. Gavin Floyd was at the top of his game with both runs plated in 6.2 innings in a no decision effort while three relievers kept Colorado scoreless the rest of the way. The bats posted ten hits and walked twice with Gerald Laird driving in two and Justin Upton doubling in another. The Braves send left hander Mike Minor to the mound to tame the big bats of Colorado on Saturday. Minor has won back to back contests with a combined two runs allowed on eight hits in 13.1 innings.
The Braves can be hard to nail down because the offense can be unpredictable but as wesaw Friday their pitching is able to carry the load. I'm hoping the pitching and the hitting come through Saturday...
