The Baltimore Orioles and the Cleveland Indians face off on Saturday in Game three of their series at Camden Yards.
The Baltimore Orioles lost the series opener on Thursday against the Indians but they bounced back on Friday getting the win. Chris Davis and Nelson Cruz each hit home runs while Nick Markakis had four hits and Adam Jones had three hits as the Orioles scored eight runs on 14 hits. Starting pitcher Bud Norris allowed six hits and four runs while striking out six over 6.0 innings to get the win and go to 3-4 for the season. For Saturday’s game the Orioles start Ubaldo Jimenez who took the loss in hos last start. For the season Jimenez has allowed 54 hits and 26 earned runs while striking out 48 over 52 innings for a 2-5 record and a 4.50 ERA.
USA TODAY Sports
The Cleveland Indians have been struggling this season and they are in last place in the AL Central as they took another loss on Friday. Lonnie Chisenhall allowed two hits, Jason Giambi hit a home run, and Michael Brantley had a hit as the Indians scored four runs on seven hits. Starting pitcher T.J. House allowed 11 hits and five runs over six innings to take the loss. For Saturday’s game the Indians start Corey Kluber who has a no decision and two wins in his last three starts. For the season Kluber has allowed 70 hits and 25 earned runs while striking out 74 over 65.2 innings for a 4-3 record and a 3.43 ERA.
Baltimore is 9-3 as a home favorite, 2-5 in their last seven home games, and 2-7 in Jimenez’s last nine starts. Cleveland is 4-2 in their last six games, 4-12 in their last 16 road games, and 18-8 in Kluber’s last 26 starts.
While the Orioles are playing better baseball I like the Indians edge on the mound here and see that as enough of a reason to go with them here.
