The Atlanta Braves and the Colorado Rockies face off on Sunday as they close out their series in Atlanta at Turner Field.
The Atlanta Braves continue to lead the NL East but their lead shrunk a little on Saturday as they took the loss to the Rockies. B.J. Upton had two hits and Freddie Freeman and Justin Upton each had hits as the Braves scored one run on four hits. Starting pitcher Mike Minor allowed four hits and three runs while striking out six over 6.1 innings to take the loss and fall to 2-3 for the season. For Sunday’s game the Braves start Julio Teheran who won last time out for the first time in over a month. For the season Teheran has allowed 49 hits and 15 earned runs while striking out 54 over 70.1 innings for a 3-3 record and a 1.92 ERA.

The Colorado Rockies aren’t known as one of the better road teams in baseball but they got the win on the road on Saturday in Atlanta. Troy Tulowitzki and Charlie Culberson each had two hits and Michael Cuddyer and Drew Stubbs had hits as the Rockies scored three runs on six hits. Starting pitcher Juan Nicasio allowed two hits and struck out five over 6.0 scoreless innings to get the win and go to 5-2 for the season and LaTroy Hawkins earned his 11th save. For Sunday’s game the Rockies start Franklin Morales who has lost his last two decisions. For the season Morales has allowed 60 hits and 31 earned runs while striking out 39 over 52.2 innings for a 3-3 record and a 5.30 ERA.
Atlanta is 5-2 in their last seven games, 2-5 in game three of a series, and 6-1 in Teheran’s last seven home starts. Colorado is 11-21 against the NL East, 26-51 in their last 77 road games, and 5-2 in Morales’ last seven starts. Colorado is 8-20 in the last 28 meetings of these two.
There just hasn’t been much scoring this series and I don’t see that changing here ands I like the under. My stronger play is on the winning side and I will post that in the Premium Area as well as on the App.
