The New York Yankees and the Chicago White Sox end their series at U.S. Cellular on Sunday.
The Yankees were the top team in the American League East a short week ago but have not gotten their arms and bats on the same page since with losses in four of five which has dropped the Bronx Bombers to third. The Yanks got back on the winning track with a 4-3, ten inning victory Saturday with great pitching and a 9th inning come back getting the job done. Vidal Nuno allowed three runs in the first but nothing else over seven innings with four relievers shutting the White Sox down. Alphonso Soriano, Yangervis Solarte and Brian McCann recorded RBI's to tie the score in the 9th before Jacoby Ellsbury cracked a solo jack in the 10th to win it. Masahiro Tanaka will be on the bump looking to rebound from his first defeat of the season. Tanaka dropped a 6-1 defeat at Wrigley Field with four runs allowed (three earned) on eight hits in six innings.

The White Sox were playing great baseball as winners in four of five but they definitely let one get away Saturday with the relief corps allowing all four runs in their extra inning defeat. Starter John Danks was outstanding with a three hit shutout over eight innings before the pen collapsed. Ronald Belisario allowed three 9th inning runs on four hits and a walk to blow the lead before Zach Putnam was tagged with the loss with a 10th inning homer served up. The offense received first inning RBI's from Dayan Viciedo, Adam Dunn and Alexei Ramirez but the bats were silent the rest of the way. Andre Rienzo looks to stay unbeaten when he faces the Yankees in the final game of their series on Sunday. Rienzo is 4-0 with a 4.00 ER but has been allowing the long ball with six given up in six starts.
Neither hurler has faced their respective opponents and overall I would give Tanaka the edge because Rienzo has given up too many homers. I think the Yanks win but I wouldn't lay the chalk so take this for what it's worth...
