The Texas Rangers and Minnesota Twins will play game three of four Wednesday night at Target Field.
The Rangers have won five of their last seven games and a loss on Tuesday drops them back to a .500 record. During this stretch, the Rangers are tearing the cover off the baseball, scoring seven or more runs in four of their last six games. Alex Rios has 19 hits in his last 10 games and Michael Choice has an RBI in three straight games. The Rangers pitching staff, however, still has the 26th worst ERA at 4.33. Getting the nod will be Joe Saunders, who is 0-1 with a 9.82 ERA and has four strikeouts in 3.2 innings. Saunders is 3-2 with a 4.88 ERA in five career starts against the Twins.

The Twins snapped a four-game losing streak with a win on Tuesday and pull within one game of a .500 record. It’s amazing what happens when the Twins pitching staff actually keeps the ball in the ball park, as they’re 17-2 this season when allowing three or less runs. Unfortunately, the Twins ERA of 4.64 is the worst in baseball. Offensively, Chris Colabello has zero hits in his last eight games, while Joe Mauer has a seven-game hitting streak. Kyle Gibson gets the ball, and he’s 4-4 with a 4.68 ERA and has 25 strikeouts in 50 innings. This will be Gibson’s first career game against the Rangers.
The Rangers are 2-5 in their last 7 vs. a team with a losing record and 3-8 in their last 11 games as an underdog. The Twins are 21-55 in their last 76 home games vs. a team with a winning record and 6-1 in their last 7 home games vs. a team with a winning road record. The Rangers are 6-2 in the last 8 meetings in Minnesota.
This game could go either way and both pitchers have been rocked when taking the mound this season. However, the Rangers have been a little more consistent lately and they're getting plus money. I'll take my chances with the road team.
