The San Francisco Giants and the Chicago Cubs close out their series in San Francisco on Wednesday.
The San Francisco Giants fell to the Cubs on Monday but they bounced back getting the win on Tuesday. Angel pagan, Hunter Pence, and Michael Morse each had two hits as the Giants scored four runs on nine hits. Starting pitcher Tim Hudson allowed six hits and struck out five over 7.0 innings to get the win to go to 5-2 for the season. For Wednesday’s game the Giants start Tim Lincecum who has been alternating wins and losses. For the season Lincecum has allowed 65 hits and 28 earned runs while striking out 56 over 55.1 innings for a 4-3 record and a 4.55 ERA.

The Chicago Cubs are rebuilding so while they will have nice wins like they had on Monday, they will have games that they are never really in it as they were on Tuesday. Justin Ruggiano, Anthony Rizzo, and Starlin Castro each had hits as the Cubs had six hits in all but didn’t score a run. Starting pitcher Jake Arrieta allowed seven hits and four runs while striking out six over 6.0 innings to take the loss and fall to 1-1 for the season. For Wednesday’s game the Cubs start Edwin Jackson who has lost two of his last three starts. For the season Jackson has allowed 62 hits and 32 earned runs while striking out 52 over 58.1 innings for a 3-4 record and a 4.94 ERA.
San Francisco is 5-1 in their last six home games, 15-6 in game three of a series, and 6-2 in Lincecum’s last eight starts as a favorite. Chicago is 10-26 in their last 36 road games, 6-3 as an underdog, and 1-6 in Jackson’s last seven road starts. Chicago is 4-1 in the last five meetings of these two.
The Giants seem to give Lincecum a ton of support and I look for him to get it here as well.
