The St. Louis Cardinals and the New York Yankees face off on Wednesday in St. Louis as they play game three of their interleague series at Busch Stadium.
The St. Louis Cardinals lost their series opener to the Yankees on Monday but they bounced back on Tuesday getting the win. Matt Holliday had three hits including a home run, Allen Craig had two hits including a home run, and Matt Adams had three hits as the Cardinals scored six runs on 10 hits. Starting pitcher Lance Lynn allowed five hits and struck out two for complete game shutout win to raise his record to 6-2 for the season. For Wednesday’s game the Cardinals start Shelby Miller who is coming off of a loss in his last start. For the season Miller has allowed 49 hits and 20 earned runs while striking out 45 over 56.2 innings for a 6-3 record and a 3.18 ERA.

The New York Yankees simply had no answers at the plate on Tuesday as they fell to the Cardinals in St. Louis. Brett Gardener, Jacoby Ellsbury, and Brian McCann each had hits as the Yankees failed to score on five hits. Starting pitcher David Phelps allowed eight hits and five runs, three earned, while striking out five over 6.0 innings to take the loss and fall to 1-2 for the season. For Wednesday’s game the Yankees start Hiroki Kuroda who has three no decisions and a win in his last four starts. For the season Kuroda has allowed 66 hits and 30 earned runs while striking out 46 over 59.1 innings for a 3-3 record and a 4.55 ERA.
St. Louis is 6-1 as a favorite, 40-15 in their last 55 home games, and 10-1 in Miller’s last 11 starts as a favorite. New York is 6-3 in their last nine interleague games, 4-10 in their last 14 games against a team with a winning record, and 2-5 in Kuroda’s last seven starts. New York is 5-3 in the last eight meetings of these two.
