The Tampa Bay Rays clearly don’t like the Boston Red Sox but it didn’t motivate them enough on Friday as they lost at Fenway Park. David DeJesus had two hits and Evan Longoria and Yunel Escobar each had hits as the Rays scored two runs on four hits. Starting pitcher David Price allowed six hits and two runs while striking out six over 7.0 innings to not get a decision as Juan Carlos Oviedo took the loss to fall to 1-2 for the season. For Saturday’s game the Rays start Jake Odorizzi who didn’t get a decision in his last start. For the season Odorizzi has allowed 50 hits and 25 earned runs while striking out 57 over 49.1 innings for a 2-4 record and a 4.56 ERA.
Boston is 5-0 in their last five games, 3-6 in their last nine home games, and 1-7 as a favorite. Tampa Bay is 8-23 as an underdog, 0-6 in their last six road games, and 1-6 in Odorizzi’s last seven road starts. Tampa Bay is 5-1 in the last six meetings of these two.
The total is set at nine here and I expect plenty of scoring and my free pick is on the over. My stronger play is on the winning side and I will post that in the Premium Area as well as on the App.
