The Line: Los Angeles Dodgers -175 / Pittsburgh Pirates +150 --- Over/Under: 7 See the Latest Odds
The Pittsburgh Pirates look to leave the Los Angeles Dodgers with a loss in the final game of their series.
The Pirates have been slowly but surely chipping away and had won seven of ten in their battle to recover from a slow start and reach the .500 mark. The Buccos drive took a step back however in a 12-2 defeat at the hands of the Dodgers on Saturday. Brandon Crumpton bore the brunt of the carnage with eleven runs plated on eleven hits before hitting the showers after 3.2 innings. That was way too much for the Pirates attack to counter with Jordy Mercer and Travis Snider knocking in runs with Mercer also scoring. Edinson Volquez will be on the mound to face the Dodgers for the first time since leaving San Diego. Volquez has been up and down with a 2-4 record with a 4.30 ERA over ten starts covering 60 innings.

I have sometimes voiced displeasure with the Dodgers who have looked ordinary on occasion and especially so at the plate which has squandered some solid outings on the mound. They must have heard me as they put an end to a three game skid in style with a 12-2 defeat of the visiting Pirates. Hyrun-Jin Ryu was the beneficiary of the LAD offensive explosion although he didn't need all the help. Ryu gave up both runs on ten hits over six frames and let the offense do the rest. The Dodgers pounded out 14 hits with Hanley Ramirez leading the way with a pair of long balls and five RBI's while Matt Kemp, Justin Turner and Drew Butera knocked in two runs apiece. The Dodgers are scheduled to start veteran Zack Greinke in the last game of the series with the visiting Pirates. Greinke has been outstanding in 2014 with an 8-1 record and 2.18 ERA over eleven outings.
Volquez has tremendous talent that doesn't always show so he can be very dangerous. Greinke struggled versus Pittsburgh when he was with Milwaukee but at home he has been one of the best...
