The Minnesota Twins and New York Yankees will play a rubber game on Sunday afternoon at Yankee Stadium.
The Twins have lost seven of their last nine games and are two games below a .500 record. While the Twins pitching staff has been their weakness all season, they’ve actually allowed three or less runs in four of their last five games. It’s the Twins offense that has given them trouble lately, scoring two or less runs in eight of their last 12 games. Trevor Plouffe has three homers in his last 10 games and Joe Mauer has nine hits in his last 10 games. Taking the mound Sunday is Kevin Correia, who is 2-6 with a 5.87 ERA and has 34 strikeouts in 61.1 innings. This will be Correia’s first career start against the Yankees.

The Yankees are finally starting to play with some consistency as they’ve won five of their last seven games. The Yankees pitching has improved as of late but still has the 19th worst ERA at 3.93. Offensively, the Yankees are 23-10 when scoring four or more runs. Mark Teixeira won’t be in the lineup Sunday or Monday and Brian McCann has six hits in his last four games. Getting the nod will be Masahiro Tanaka, who is 8-1 with a 2.06 ERA and has 88 strikeouts in 78.2 innings. This will be Tanaka’s second career start against the Twins.
The Twins are 40-83 in their last 123 vs. American League East and 1-4 in their last 5 games vs. a right-handed starter. The 3-7 in their last 10 home games vs. a team with a losing road record.
It's not very often you're going to get Tanaka at this price. The Yankees are the more balanced team and have the much better pitcher on the mound. Take the Yanks at home for the cheap price.
