The Baltimore Orioles continue their road trip with a stop at the Texas Rangers on Tuesday night.
It wasn't all that long ago that Baltimore was sitting atop the American League East but their streaky tendency has dropped them to third with a .500 record the past few weeks never good eneough in this division. The Birds are looking to build on consecutive wins following a 9-4 rout of Houston on Sunday where both the hitting and starting pitdhing came together. Wei-Yin Chen allowed a single run through 5.1 frames with some shoddy relief work finishing up. The O's offense was explosive with Manny Machado connecting on a grand slam while David Lough homered and drove in three. Ubaldo Jimenez will be on the bump to face the Rangers in the series opener. Jimenez has either been very good or very bad and it was the former in a 3-1 loss at Houston where he gave up a run on three hits through six frames.

Texas is holding third in the top heavy American League West that seems to have more parody then in recent years. The Rangers have yet to hit their stride as they have been treading water hoping to get hot. Texas salvaged the final game of their series at Washington by a 2-0 count behind another strong performance on the mound from Yu Darvish who tossed eight shutout innings while striking out 12 to improve to 5-2. The bats had plenty of runners on ten hits and four walks but managed just a solo jack by Leonys Martin and an RBI single from Donnie Murphy.Left hander Joe Saunders makes only his third start of the 2014 campaign when he squares off with the dangerous Orioles lineup. Saunders was outstanding in a 1-0 victory over Minnesota with five scoreless innings.
I am not very fond of the pitching match up with Jimenez very capable of a gem or getting blown out. I believe he has the edge over Saunders so I'll give the Orioles a shot as a dog...
