The Colorado Rockies and the Arizona Diamondbacks face off on Wednesday at Coors Field as they continue their NL West series.
The Colorado Rockies have struggled on the road this season but home wasn’t too much better to them on Tuesday as they fell to the D-backs. Troy Tulowitzki and D.J. LeMahieu each hit home runs and Wilin Rosario added two hits as the Rockies scored two runs on seven hits. Starting pitcher Jorge De la Rosa allowed seven hits and three runs over 7.0 innings to take the loss and fall to 6-4 for the season. For Wednesday’s game the Rockies start Jordan Lyles who has two no decisions and a loss in his last three starts. For the season Lyles has allowed 57 hits and 25 earned runs while striking out 46 over 65 innings for a 5-1 record and a 3.46 ERA.
USA TODAY Sports
The Arizona Diamondbacks haven’t had a good season but on Tuesday they were in cruise control as they knocked off the Rockies. Chris Owings had three hits including a home run, Nick Evans hit a home run, and Martin Prado and Aaron Hill were among those with hits as the Diamondbacks scored four runs on nine hits. Starting pitcher Chase Anderson allowed four hits and a run while striking out three over 6.0 innings to get the win and go to 4-0 for the season and Addison Reed earned his 15th save. For Wednesday’s gam the Diamondbacks start Josh Collmenter who has won his last three starts. For the season Collmenter has allowed 53 hits and 23 earned runs while striking out 38 over 62 innings for a 4-2 record and a 3.34 ERA.
Colorado is 13-6 in their last 19 home games, 7-2 in their last nine home games against a team with a winning road record, and 0-5 in their last five games. Arizona is 5-1 against the NL West, 6-2 on the road against a team with a losing record, and 4-10 in Collmenter’s last 14 road starts.
Colorado is a big favorite here but they haven’t been playing like one and I give the nod to Arizona.
