The New York Yankees and the Oakland A’s face off on Wednesday at Yankee Stadium for game two of their series.
The New York Yankees looked to be in good shape late against the A’s o Tuesday but they allowed the A’s to tie the game and then took the loss in extra innings. Mark Teixeira hit a home run, Brett Gardener had two hits, and Jacoby Ellsbury had a hit as the Yankees scored two runs on seven hits. Starting pitcher Hiroki Kuroda allowed two hits and a run while striking out two over 6.2 innings to not get a decision as Dellin Betances blew the save and Adam Warren took the loss. For Wednesday’s game the Yankees start Vidal Nuno who has lost his last two decisions. For the season Nuno has allowed 52 hits and 29 earned runs while striking out 37 over 47.2 innings for a 1-2 record and a 5.48 ERA.

The Oakland A’sshowed no quit once again on Tuesday as they battled back late from behind to win comfortably in extra innings. Brandon Moss hit two home runs and Coco Crisp and Yoenis Cespedes each had hits as the A’s scored five runs on seven hits. Starting pitcher Scott Kazmir allowed six hits and two runs while striking out 10 over 6.1 innings for a no decision as Dan Oero got the win to go to 5-1 for the season and Sean Doolittle earned his sixth save. For Wednesdya’s game the A’s start jesse Chavez who has lost his last two starts. For the season Chavez has allowed 62 hits and 21 earned runs while striking out 64 over 68 innings for a 4-3 record and a 2.78 ERA.
New York is 1-5 in their last six home games, 0-8 as a home underdog, and 0-4 in Nuno’s last four home starts. Oakland is 5-2 in game two of a series, 5-1 against a left-handed starter, and -3 in Chavez’s last 11 starts. Oakland is 5-0 in the last four meetings of these two.
